Friday Celebration Sign-Ups
August 15th - Minute to win-it Madness: Students can sign-up to compete in one of five whacky contests.
August 22rd - Karaoke: Students sign-up to sing 1-2 minutes of a song.
August 29th - Student Council Speeches: Our student council has accomplished a lot at our school. In this celebration, students that nominated themselves and were selected by our teachers, will get a chance to give a student council speech.
September 5th - 6th vs 7th Showdown: With 8th grade still not back from Snow Mountain Ranch, we have our 6th and 7th grade square off in a series of competitions. Girls Futsal (indoor soccer), a geography quiz, tug-of-war and boys basketball.
September 19th - Dodgeball Tournament: Teams of five should nominate themselves. There will be a boys and girls tournament. As always, gender non-binary students can compete in either tournament.
September 26th - Celebration of Inclusion: DGSN takes pride in being the most inclusive middle school in Denver. In this celebration we will meet students in our Autism Center and have student leaders share why inclusion is important to them and examples of inclusion in our community.
October 3rd - Fall Grade Level Olympics: The first of our three grade level olympic competitions. Students can nominate themselves to compete in events. The winners of competitions get points for their grade. The grade with the most points wins popsicles at recess!
October 17th - Music Showcase: Whether you want to sing our play an instrument, we want you to perform. Sign-up on the form and work with Mr. Q to prepare your act.
October 24th - Early Fall Sports Showcase: Staff v Student Soccer: We will showcase our boys soccer team and cross country team.
November 14th - Visual Arts Showcase: Students can submit art or a video for our showcase. Art can be digital or physical. The video can be funny, artistic or whatever might get the win.
November 21st - Pizza Box Knockout: Each player has to balance a pizza box in one hand, and holds a pool noddle in another hand. The goal of the game is to knock off the pizza boxes of your oponent and be the last person standing. Teams of five should nominate themselves. There will be a boys and girls tournament. As always, gender non-binary students can compete in either tournament.
December 5th - Grade Level Family Feud: 6th grade will face 7th grade in family feud with the winner taking on 8th grade.
December 12th - DGSN Top Chef: The second ever DGSN live cooking competition! There will be three separate cooking competitions: the quesadilla competition, the guacamole competition and smoothie competition. Contestants will be told the ingredients in advance, the school will purchase the ingredients.
December 19th - Winter Grade Level Olympics: The second of our three grade level olympic competitions. Students can nominate themselves to compete in events. The winners of competitions get points for their grade hot chocolate served at an upcoming recess. Competitions include a potato sack race, throwing footballs for accuracy, dancing to the cha cha slide, Junk in the Trunk and reciting a shakespeare monologue.
